Rev. Williams is a native of Savannah, Georgia and a product of the Savannah-Chatham County Public School System (1977 graduate of Jenkins High School). He received a B.S. Degree from Savannah State College (now known as Savannah State University). His religious education includes studies at Beeson Divinity School (Samford University), the Billy Graham School of Evangelism (Wheaton College) and he received an honorary Doctorate of Christian Music Degree in 2004 for his work in Church Music, founding member of the Georgia Mass Choir and accompanist for the 1977 Grammy Nominee Savannah Community Choir.


He is the former moderator of the Berean Missionary Baptist Association, Inc. (October 2012 -  April 2019), former Vice President of the National Baptist Convention, USA, Inc. Music Auxiliary and former State Music Director for the General Missionary Baptist Convention of Georgia, Inc. He serves on a number of community boards and is active in social/civic affairs.
